Service – The service at The Roc was friendly, and very knowledgeable and descriptive about the food and wine; which was great because it was the first visit for my dinner partner’s Julie and Robin. Our hostess told us that reservations can be made any night of the week and that she definitely recommended them for the weekends. They are doing something right here! The dining room was bustling by 6:30 on a weeknight.
Ambiance – The Roc has a very cozy, relaxed atmosphere, with a fireplace in the main dining room and another in the lobby. We were fortunate enough to sit right next to the fireplace in the dining room. It definitely took the chill out of the cold, February evening. Their menu is Italian themed with small plates, appetizers, salads, numerous hearty entrees, subs, and pizzas.
Meal that was consumed – I wasn’t extremely hungry so I decided to order off the appetizer menu. This worked out perfectly! I ordered the short rib sliders with sriracha sauce on the side and a side of roasted fresh vegetables. The vegetables were substituted for fries at no extra cost. The vegetables were delicious and consisted of yellow and zucchini squash, red bell pepper and red onion. The beef on the short rib sliders was tender and very tasty. The sriracha sauce was very flavorful but not overly spicy. The glass of Hogue Washington Cabernet that I had went well with the sliders. Wednesday was half off of certain bottles of wine. Too bad Julie, Robin and I all like different types of wines!
Costs – Prices are very reasonable for the quality and quantity you receive. Check out their menu, (link to their website above), and you will see what I mean.
Portions – My appetizer selection was perfect for a light meal; my companions entrees left them leftovers to take home for another meal.
Quality – Everything was delicious and well prepared. The salads were freshly made. The bread basket was filled with what they called “Twisties”. (I love the name of course). The Twisties came out warm and were served with a side of delicious marinara sauce and whipped butter.
My dinner companions – My friends Julie Panson & Robin Miles. Julie had lasagna & Robin had veal parmesan. My only regret is that I didn’t ask them both for a tiny taste! Their entrees both looked delicious. Both Robin and Julie were very pleased with their meals and said they would go back to The Roc in the near future.
In my opinion ……. I think The Roc is a proven winner. This was my third visit here in about six months, and each visit I enjoy it more and more. Many people I know are not familiar with this dinner spot and I hope that through this review, I can convince them to give this restaurant a try!
